Went to explore Melbourne last Saturday...not actually explore la!!!but...sort of like..walk around melbourne...look at the buildings...buat kepo abit...haha..luckily tak buat kecoh.....hmm...lotz of interesting shop along Swanston road actually!!!was so exited when i actually "bump" into an ORGANIC shop..which sell a VARIETY of food stuff in there...can u watz more exiting when u can see all the food labelled with "FAT FREE"???? Can simply munch n munch non stop during winter..haha...hmm..wil visit tht shop again!!! oh ya!!tht shop was really..AMAZING!!!they even sell organic pet food..OMG!!!! was wondering whether if there's really some1 who can afford to let he/her pet go ORGANIC!!this fella muz b RICH man!!!!

Bought a printer last Sat from Office Work. Heard so many advice from seniors.!!"better get ur own printer. For commerce students..there's alot of notes n tutes ques need to b printed out!"

Gosh!!! Carry such a heavy printer....luckily there's tram here!!!

The semester begins....................Arrgh..juz simply feel so LAZY!!!!after 3 n a half months break..no assignments, no assessments, no tutes, no lecs...life is so so....dunno how to describe..my brains alredi rusted.....can't recall anything regarding last sems notes....ARgghh..die la ..die la..taking Intermediate microeconomics tis sem, but...i simply can't remember anything which i've learn in Microeconomics during my 1st year 1st sem in monash..com'on...it's 1 n a half YEARS dy k...n it's like more than a CENTURY to me!!!hw can i remember??? gosh!!! n this InterMicro, need all the basic knowledge regarding Micro..OMG!!!somebody plz help me!!!!!!if nt...i really dunno how can i strive thru my 1st sem here!!SOBBIE..........

CNY in Melbourne is very different from how we usually celebrate in Malaysia...or...wat i used to celebrate in Malaysia. Although there's lotz of Chinese in Melbourne, however, the CNY atmosphere in Melbourne is nt as strong as in Msia. In Malaysia, when approaching CNY, u can see many Chinese doing their last minute shopping. Long Qs.....Argghh...but..i really enjoy the atmosphere there. U see, although every1 is bz..but somehow, i can feel..every1 do enjoy the "buzyness". Spring cleaning n shopping with families do bring every1 together.


However, in Melbourne, things r different here. According to Aunty Sally, some of the Chinese here dun celebrate CNY as CNY normally falls on weekdays, n unlike Msia, CNY is not a public holiday for Australians..Damn sad case, feel so sorry for all Chinese in Australia.

In Malaysia, we normally juz pay our relatives n frens a visit. As usual, the host wil provide tit bits, soft drinks, beers, homemade cookies, chocolates, candies, dried fruits, nutz for the guests. N there it goes...all the chit chating..n gossiping to catch up with things....


But in Australia, home visit is more than juz chit chatting n gossiping..they actually cook together n serve meals with other families. In short, CNY is part of a family activity, where not oni 1 family crowd together, but with lotz of families. There wil b a host where the house warming take place, n others wil come to the host place with ready or raw food. Some wil prepare the food with the host, where the parents wil start their conversation bt their lifes, kids, current issues...etc. during the food preparation. The kids on the other hand, while waiting for the meals to be ready, crowd together, playing games, planning some church activities, etc.

This is the first time..thruout my entire life, nt celebrating chinese new year in Msia with my family. ish...it's kinda homesick actually. Especially for us, who 1st time in oversea, without having to celebrate the most important n grand chinese celebration ---CNY. Goshhh....

Thank god i stil hav my grp of frens here with me. Went to Ikea on the Saturday morning (17/2 --CNY eve) together with Wei Pinn, Eng Kiat n Sze Cheng. After Ikea, we actually stop by at WP's fren's place to get some rest besides helping WP to carry his things up to his fren's place. As his frens wil b having steamboat at nite, they invited us. So, there we go, 1st time reunion dinner without family members BUT frens..... Malaysians!!! This is smthing real new to me (Okay,ok...i'm the not the oni 1, as this is also the 1st time for wp, ek n sc)..

There were actually 7 of us----> 4 Malaccans n 3 Sarawakians (Kuching)

When i'm in Monash Uni, Sunway, my condo master n some staffs who work for the university used to ask me whether i'm a Korean. "R u Korean??" I understand the situation as lately, there had been lotz of Korean studying in Sunway. Some of them said i look like 1 of the koreans, n some of them said that is my name Shu Jiun which makes them think tht i'm a Korean.... s0..i was juz wondering...is my Shu tht makes the Korean???or my Jiun tat sounds Korean????

Today, the same thing happen twice again!!! i met a Korean postgraduate today!! n She spoke to me in some Korean language i supposingly...funny though..i shrug my shoulders..n was thinking: "oh gosh!!!i'm deaf again (Those ppl who knoe me well alwiz said tht i'm either deaf or "pekak" as they need to repeat their sentences for more than 3 times b4 i can figure it out what they actually trying to tell me)"..n ask her "pardon"..

Came bk to my apartment after the university orientation. Saw two gals trying to look into the rooms in my unit as they r stil on vacancy. As i walk past them, the staff who show them the room said, "oh, this gal is also one of them who live in this unit". I politely flash a smile.

"sorry..nope..i'm from Malaysia"

"so u r not from korea? u look like korean? I'm from Korea!"

I'm leaving Melaka...Malaysia....9.55am flight according to Msia time. This is the 1st time i board on a plane, n this is the 1st time in my life..i'm leaving Msia...to a country...which is so unfamiliar to me. Stil remember, when i wave my parents goodbye n hug them..i can't control it anymore. I thought i wun b crying this time, come on, i'm going to be 22 years old this coming April, but..i juz can't control it....it juz me.........aiks.....
In the plane, i dun really knoe wat m i suppose to do. Juz sit down there, looking at others bz placing their luggage on the cabin above the plane sits. Was 1/3 excited, 1/3 scared, n 1/3 worried.

Exited: i've nv been to overseas b4...so..this wil b my very 1st time
Scared: i'm so so alone, without frens n family accompanying me..sigh...wat if i reach the wrong destination?
Worried: wht lies ahead of me...how's the uni look like...how's my accomodation going to b????errrrr....

Reach Melbourne around 8.30 pm. Oni to find out tht...Melbourne is actually 3 hours ahead of Msia time...oh gosh!!!!!so..i've lost 3 hours......

Miss home badly, can't sleep the whole nite. Not the bed which i m familiar with, without my comfy pillows. ARGHhhhh....i juz miss home. Miss papa, mama!!! Din take my dinner, was hungry, but there's nothing for me here. too bad!!!!
Meet up with Eng Kiat the very next morning. EK brought me to the uni as i've to get sm info from the Orientation Welcome Centre. After tht went to open a bank account at the CommonWealth Bank as it is situated inside the Melb Uni building, not far away from my faculty too. Have bacon n egg sandwich from the cafeteria ($4.50). hmm.....wat can i say????Food is expensive in Melbourne. RM4.50 is ok..but...$4.50 times by 2.78...is round14.30 for a sandwich...!!!!hmm.i prefer sandwich from Starbucks Msia then...pay the same price but much much nicer compare to here.
Went home after tht as ek having class later. Meet up with Ek again in the evening, to hav a look around Melb city.Bought 1 whole loaf of bread..cost $3.85..but they really taste nice....hmm..can last me for more than a week..hehe....In Melbourne.everything is BIG!!!!their food portion is BIG!!!their ppl is BIG (tall i mean...really tall.......much much taller than EK!!!!their breads are also BIG!!!!haha..yeaa... i luv bread..can't deny i'm a bread lover ~~~~

Meet up with Aunty Sally----Han Chun's aunt. A very lovely lady. Can't imagine she's 50 years old!!!She look...hmm.so young n pretty. Really!! Very fair complexion she has too.....She brought me to Ikea to get some pillows n comforter! !! n get sm grocerries n daily stuffs..oh ya!!went to her house too...Oh gosh!! REally like her house!!the interior is so so europe to me....n i'm really amazed by the toilet...it's like those we seen in the 5 star hotel!!!hmm...

Thanks alot to Aunty Sally, who really spend out her time juz for me...bringing me to Ikea, K-Mart, Coles. Comparing the prices for me....walking here n there juz to get the rite thing for reasonable price...THANKS!!!!!

Oh ya...one thing....in AUs..if u bought smthing u dun like..not juz bcoz it is not in a good condition...it may b simply bcoz..u dun like it n regretting it after u bought it//u cn juz change it from where u buy...provided u show them the receipt! They wun ask u further bt the reasons y u wanna change...u change juz bcoz u feel like changing..haha..they wil either pay u the money back...or...u get bk the same thing with a better condition.hmmm..as in Aus..heard tht..consumers has lotz of rights....
However, can't get use to..when it's oni 6pm...most of the shops hav alredi closed...they really enjoy life here!!!
